Garmin Venu 4 vs. Forerunner: Which Watch Fits Your Day?
Share
If you run but also want a watch for sleep, workouts and everyday life, the Venu 4 and Forerunner lines can both make sense. The Venu 4 is a strong everyday fitness choice. A Forerunner is the clearer starting point when running training is the main reason you are buying a watch.
Choose by what you do most
| Your priority | Watch to consider first |
|---|---|
| GPS running at the lowest price among our current models | Forerunner 70 |
| Regular running and structured training | Forerunner 570 |
| Running with built-in maps and navigation | Forerunner 970 |
| Everyday health, mixed activities and a choice of two case sizes | Venu 4, 41 mm or 45 mm |
Does Venu 4 have running features?
Yes. Venu 4 offers GPS activities, training readiness, wrist-based running dynamics and recovery information. It also includes music storage, Garmin Pay, an LED flashlight and a speaker and microphone for calls when paired with a compatible smartphone. It would be inaccurate to call it only a lifestyle watch. If you care most about running performance tools and navigation, compare the Forerunner models closely.
Which Venu 4 size should I choose?
Our 41 mm Venu 4 has a smaller case and a 1.2-inch display. The 45 mm model has a 1.4-inch display. Garmin lists up to 10 days in smartwatch mode for the 41 mm and up to 12 days for the 45 mm, subject to settings and use. Think about screen readability and how the case sits on your wrist, rather than assuming one size is for a particular gender. Our 41 mm watch is Lunar Gold with a Bone band; the 45 mm is Slate with a Black band.
Where does the Forerunner 570 differ?
Our 47 mm Forerunner 570 is a running-focused watch with multiband GPS and structured training tools. It also stores music and supports Garmin Pay. Unlike the Venu 4, the 570 does not have an LED flashlight. If built-in maps matter, the Forerunner 970 is the model in this group to examine. Read our 570 versus 970 guide.
