Founder Garrett Smith opened Red Beard's Outfitter in 2016 after a lifetime shaped by outdoor adventure, hard-earned experience, and a desire to create the kind of local outdoor shop he always wanted to visit.
From whitewater rafting with his parents to spending every possible moment outside, Garrett learned early that adventure is not only something you do. It is a mindset built on curiosity, resilience, and a willingness to go with the flow.
During college, Garrett paused school, picked up a hammer, and saved enough money to hike the southern half of the Appalachian Trail. The miles gave him clarity, purpose, and a vision for a community-focused outdoor store of his own.
After returning to school and working in a local outdoor shop, Garrett knew he wanted to build something that captured the freedom, spirit, and grit of life outside. Red Beard's Outfitter opened in Mobile in 2016.
Today, Red Beard's combines helpful local service with carefully selected apparel, footwear, outdoor gear, and Gulf Coast-inspired products for everyday adventures close to home and beyond.
