Match the watch to your activities

Compare activity profiles, map use, fit and battery modes for the outings you actually do. Start with our fēnix 9 vs Forerunner 970 comparison. Both models deserve a closer look; a watch name alone does not establish which is right for you.

What is different about the fēnix version at RBO?

It is the standard 47 mm AMOLED fēnix 9, part 010-04762-10, with a titanium bezel and sapphire lens. It is not a Pro, solar or inReach-equipped version.

Can I compare the battery claims directly?

Compare the actual mode settings. Garmin's fēnix activity-mode labels and Forerunner GPS-only labels differ. Our battery guide explains how to read them.

Is GPS the same as satellite messaging?

No. Receiving satellite signals for positioning does not itself allow sending messages or an SOS. Review the exact device and service requirements.

For running-focused options without the same mapping requirement, compare Garmin Forerunner watches.
