Garrett Smith, founder of Red Beard’s Outfitter, opened up shop in 2016 with a passion rooted deep in the wild. Since childhood, he has lived for the outdoors – whitewater rafting with his parents and learning early that the best memories are made outside.

For Garrett, adventure isn't just something you do; it’s a way of life. Adventure is often characterized by unpredictability and the willingness to go with the flow, even when things don’t go as planned. This mindset shaped the path that brought Red Beard’s to life.

During his college years, Garrett hit pause on school, picked up a hammer and spent months saving up enough money to hike the southern half of the Appalachian Trail. This challenge gave him more than just a few more miles under his boots. He found clarity and a deeper sense of purpose that would guide him forward. He returned to school with a renewed vision. After working in a local outdoor shop, he knew he wanted to create something of his own – a place that captured the freedom, the spirit, and most importantly, the grit of the outdoors. And so, Red Beard’s was born.
